System admin- VMware Specialist

Are you a well-experienced System Administrator with a specialisation in VMware technologies?

Emanate Technology has been engaged by a large Federal Government department with a requirement for an experienced System Administrator to work within the Specialist Capability Systems (SCS) of Operational Science & Technology.

Responsibilities:

Your role will involve, but not be limited to, the following:

• Provide technical direction and advice to vendors engaged in professional services on behalf of the client.
• Assist CIO Command staff in the technical aspects of designing, building, and implementing new business solutions into the clients’ ICT environment.
• Collaborate with business users and system administrators to enhance the implementation, use, and management of ICT and business solutions.
• Work with staff to diagnose and resolve operational and technical problems.
• Engage actively with CIO Command staff to leverage solution expertise and contribute to expanding the knowledge base.
• Alert management about design, build, testing, and quality risks, assumptions, and dependencies.
• Assist in documenting overall system design, implementation, procedures, and policies.
• Ensure adherence to compliance standards within the ICT environment.
• Work effectively within a small team.
• Share knowledge and skills with team members and maintain records as required.

Relevant Experience:

• Demonstrated experience in designing, configuring, and fully deploying complex ICT systems in federal ICT environments.
• Collaboration with teams throughout the project lifecycle to achieve business objectives.
• Formal information and communications technology qualifications from a recognised tertiary institution or demonstrated skills and experience.
• Accreditation of complex multi-domain solutions.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience with the VMware SDDC stack, including proficiency in:
  • vSphere
  • VMware vSAN
  • Virtualization and cloud concepts, including virtual data centers, VMware vSphere vMotion, and dynamic resource scheduling
  • Enterprise data storage, encompassing NAS (IP-based), SAN (FC-based), Software-defined storage (SDS), and converged storage solutions (vSAN, etc.).
