Senior Security Engineer

The role:

We are currently looking for a talented individual to join the cyber team as a Senior Security Engineer within a Government Department!
In this role, you will play a vital role in ensuring the security and integrity of the ICT platforms and infrastructure. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Strategically planning and managing infrastructure requirements to ensure seamless operations and meet future demands.
• Providing operational support for hardware, software, and other infrastructure assets.
• Developing and implementing effective procedures for prioritising and escalating infrastructure issues, facilitating timely resolution, and communicating the impact of configuration changes.
• Offering expert technical advice and delivering strategic recommendations to the executive team.
• Mentoring and guiding less experienced colleagues, sharing your extensive knowledge and expertise.
• Developing and implementing operational policies, procedures, and change initiatives.
• Overseeing the development and maintenance of system architecture and design documentation.
• Engaging and managing relationships with stakeholders to enhance service delivery capabilities.
• Driving innovation, leading change initiatives, and continuously improving our security practices.

The skills and experience required:

• Minimum of five years of demonstrated experience in designing, building, deploying, troubleshooting, and managing Palo Alto appliances, F5 load balancers, and web proxies in large secure gateway environments.
• Extensive understanding of network devices, including Checkpoint, Palo Alto, and Cisco firewalls, F5 load balancers, and web proxies.
• In-depth knowledge with advanced layer 7 security features, including URL filtering, Network AV/AS, DNS-Sec, File Analytics, and rollout methodology.
• Proficient knowledge and rollout experience of advanced next-generation firewall security concepts and features such as IPS, SSL/TLS inspection/decryption flows, and certificates.
• Familiarity with cyber vulnerability industry standards, such as CVEs.
• Expertise in designing and integrating secure internet gateway environments.
• Strong skills in developing and maintaining system architecture and design documentation.
