Exciting opportunity for a skilled and talented software developer to join a large multi-year program within a mid-sized Federal Government Department, building out several new applications and redesigning an existing application.

This would be a great opportunity for a software developer with experience working with javascript frameworks such as React.js and backend techologies such as Node.js or Express.js to support an established applications team in the delivery of high profile web applications. This role would be apart of an agile multi-discplinary team that is focused on culture, outcomes and high quality software solutions.

This role would require the successful candidate to design and improve software that meets the user needs, create clear and secure code that is easy for future developers to use, collaborate with a multi-discplinary team to continually improve the overall quality of the codebase and deliver and produce a test-driven or behaviour-driven development and continuous integration / continuous delivery cadence.

  • 12-month contract with 2x12mth extensions
  • Ability to obtain baseline
  • Canberra based role, flexible working arrangements available

To be successful for this opportunity, a prior experience in the following would be required:

  • Exceptional development capability writing test-driven frontend and backend code in JavaScript
  • Strong experience with client-side JavaScript frameworks like React.js
  • Strong experience with backend JavaScript technologies including Node and Express.js
  • Experience with other JS tools and libraries highly regarded, eg. Webpack, Babel, and Jasmine
  • Strong experience with HTML, CSS and SASS
  • Specific knowledge of common web security issues and how to avoid them
  • Experience developing and iterating software in agile multi-disciplinary teams
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical people
  • Strong understanding of common patterns for developing maintainable and scalable web applications
  • Understand how web applications are operated in production (eg. familiarity with platform-as-a-service and building twelve-factor apps)
