Opportunity for a highly skilled Test Automation Specialist with proven skill set in writing automated API tests using RestAssured/cucumber/junit, aswell as experience developing highly efficient test suites to join a growing digital consultancy specialising in AWS and Java technologies. This role would be assisting in building out the testing capability of the Specialist consultancy, working to build out a highly regarded Quality Assurance team locally in Canberra.

To be successful in this opportunity a prior experience in the following criteria would be required

  • Developing highly efficient test suites (manual and automated) that provide the necessary coverage and confidence to release whilst minimising manual effort and build times
  • Writing automated API tests using RestAssured/cucumber/junit and then also performing manual tests via postman
  • Adept at identifying appropriate test scenarios including relevant edge and error cases
  • Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills as well as attention to detail
  • Confident to not only diagnose issues in technical and business logic but support engineers and analysts diagnose their root cause
  • Be able to be the champion of best practices for testing within organisation
  • Understanding of the difference between unit, integration, system, smoke, interface and acceptance testing and when best to use them
  • Reduce build times through automated testing solutions better adherence to the test pyramid, without compromising on test coverage
  • Identify areas where common templates, starter-kits, shared-libraries or approaches could deliver efficiencies and improve quality, and you contribute to their development. This may result in blog posts, (internal) open source projects, lunchtime brown-bag sessions, etc.
  • Coding aptitude in both frontend and backend applications ( java, java script, SQL…etc)
  • Experience of working in agile delivery environment
